Welcome to The Yorkshire Inn Bed & Breakfast in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region. Once a stagecoach stop, it is now a fully-furnished, TURN-KEY Bed and Breakfast with a history of success and a superb reputation. The entire home has been updated and restored to its Colonial glory!
The spacious main hall with open staircase, not only greets our visitors, but serves as the hub of the house since the entire first floor is dedicated to the business. To the right you will enter the grand dining room & the formal living room with a restored fireplace updated to natural gas. Pass through the archway into a wide open gathering room where all the guests are invited to mingle and relax. The space features more seating, a dry bar, an Amish made table for playing family games, and a less formal atmosphere with a bit of whimsy. Two of the guest suites are also in this wing. The opulently appointed Bolero Room offers a romantic getaway featuring a two person jacuzzi tub and individual shower. The Lodge Room is a two bedroom suite that sleeps up to 6. Trimmed in rough sawn cedar it boasts a traditional bath with a tub and shower combination. To the left of the main hall, you will find the oversized country-kitchen with a walk-in pantry, second laundry area and a half-bath. The kitchen was fully remodeled to allow two cooks to operate simultaneously without getting into each other’s way. The professional, stainless steel appliances and extra sink make it easy to prep for your guests each morning. Straight to the back of the house, again off the main hall, you will encounter two more guests suits - The Rose Room and The Blue Room. The Rose Room is a two bedroom suite that sleeps up to 6, has a private bath, large windows overlooking the backyard as well as a second door that opens directly onto the deck. The Blue Room sleeps two, has a private bath and features a wall of south facing windows overlooking the deck and backyard. Both the Blue and Rose baths feature an oversized, seated shower with a very low step for entry to accommodate our older guests. Finally, follow the hall all the way to the back of the main floor to the generous deck, running the length of the house with stairs to the private, multi-acre yard complete with a firepit and patio for all the guests, and you, to enjoy!
The second floor is currently dedicated to the owner’s living quarters. However, when you see the enormous master bedroom with sitting area, wet bar, walk-in closet and four piece bath, you may decide to use it as a 5th inn suite to increase your income opportunity even further. The second floor family room, a home office, and storage/utility room have each served as children’s bedrooms in the past and certainly could again. The original, wide-plank, hardwood floor gleams throughout this level.
The third floor offers additional owner’s accommodations including two bedrooms each with their own 3/4 bath. Centrally located is a common sitting room and two storage areas. If you chose to turn the second floor master suite into an additional inn room, there is plenty of owner living space on this floor.
In addition to three floors of living accommodations, the house boasts a full, unfinished walkout basement featuring a workshop, utility/craft room and plenty of storage. The property also includes a paved, 9+ space parking lot. We will even include the heavy duty snow blower!
The main brick structure of The Yorkshire Inn was constructed in approximately 1796 as a two story farmhouse. Just 23 years later, in 1819, the third story was added and the home was converted to a stage coach stop. Evidence of this configuration can still be seen throughout the house today. The overall structure of the house remained unchanged until 1951 when the addition on the west end was added to supplement The York Inn restaurant, which operated from 1948 until 1988. In 2000, the Latch family purchased the house with the intention of turning it into a Bed and Breakfast. Opening with a single guest room in 2003, The Yorkshire Inn has operated as a successful Bed and Breakfast ever since. The next remodel resulted in the addition of The Blue Room. Then in 2013, the old restaurant space was converted into The Lodge Suite, The Bolero Room as well as the gathering room and additional laundry facility.
What will you add to the history of this beloved piece of Phelps, New York History? The next chapter to the story could be yours to write.
